The girl in the doll

Many people seem to think my banner art is just some cute little Power Puff character, but that is actually very far from the truth.  The cute little doll you see at the top of my homepage is actually an artistic rendition of human smuggling: an illegal migrant, a small Mexican girl hidden inside a doll.  It is a photograph I took at an art exhibit of all things LA/Tijuana at the Museo Rufino Tomayo in Mexico City.  They hide people inside all kinds of things- motors, car seats, and even dolls.  And many of these people die from suffocation or heat exhaustion as they wait long hours in cramped positions to cross the border.  So no, it’s not cute, but it’s certainly gives you something to think about, especially if you were born in a country that people die trying to get to every single day.
